Unity scam boss in police net

Kashi Ram Gurung, the chairman of Unity Life International that swindled over Rs 3 billion through illegally operated networking business, has been arrested by the police.

Gurung, who was in the 'most wanted' list of the police, was arrested from near Pashupatinagar in Ilam Tuesday night. The police made him public during a press conference organised in Lalitpur on Wednesday.

According to Senior Superintendent Rajendra Shrestha, since last several months he was hiding in Sikkim where he has relatives. Cases against him, which are pending in the court, include fraud and massive tax evasion.

He was on the run for the last two years since the swindling of money from thousands of members of Unity International came into light.

Three other senior managers of Unity International - Bishnu Bahadur Chhettri, Krishna Bahadur Chhettri and Mahendra K.C -are still at large.
